Weber Shandwick veteran Adrian Peh has returned to the firm as vice president in Shanghai.

In Peh’s new role, he will report directly to Darren Burns, managing director of Weber Shandwick in Shanghai and Guangzhou. Based on Peh’s deep experience in the consumer space—working with leading fashion, fragrance, cosmetic and sports brands—he will help to oversee the firm’s flourishing consumer team in Shanghai and add expertise in driving advocacy-based initiatives across all the agency’s practice groups in China.

"Adrian is a great addition in our drive to create advocacy for our clients in an increasingly complex Chinese communications environment,” said Burns. "The newly created position shows our clients that we continue to invest in the best people to offer them the best thinking and creativity on their programmes."

Peh previously worked as an account director in Weber Shandwick’s consumer practice in Beijing from 2005 to 2007. Peh’s agency career began at Weber Shandwick in his native Malaysia, where he served as a consultant in 1999.

Weber Shandwick’s China operations continued a strong tradition of growth in 2008, adding new domestic and international corporations to its client roster. And the firm has continued to make senior hires—including Sonny Yang, vice president, spearheading growth among domestic Chinese clients, and Peter Tou, account director in the corporate practice in Shanghai—to support its outstanding client growth.

Weber Shandwick Australia has promoted Will Collie and Sally Thompson to account director, further strengthening the office’s healthcare and technology offering.

"I am delighted to announce the promotions of Will Collie and Sally Thompson to account director. They are both integral to Weber Shandwick's growing business, and I am confident they will continue to provide innovative counsel and thinking that delivers great results and client recognition,” said Emma-Jane Granleese, managing director, Weber Shandwick Australia.

Collie initially joined the healthcare team in May 2007 as account supervisor and is responsible for managing communications programmes and providing counsel to a diverse portfolio of healthcare clients. Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, Collie spent five years working in the consumer and healthcare fields and has held both in-house and agency positions.

With six years’ experience specialising in telecommunications and consumer technology PR, Thompson plays a key role alongside head of technology, Lisa Popplewell, in building Weber Shandwick’s brand offering in Australia. Thompson joined the team in May 2007 and is responsible for managing the ongoing strategic counsel of the firm’s clients in this sector.

The promotions are reflective of the significant growth achieved in both practice areas in the past 12 months, as Weber Shandwick has broadened its specialist sector capabilities.

"By coupling valuable senior level talent, grown from within the organisation, together with new talent from among the best and brightest outside the business, Weber Shandwick provides a committed, creative team focused on understanding and thought leadership, while advocating compelling communications campaigns for our clients," said Granleese.
