Got a Question?
What can I win?
There is up to US$6,000 in prize money to be won as well as internships for the winner(s) and runner(s) up with the award sponsor, Weber Shandwick. Finalists chosen following the second round of judging will also be offered a paid-for trip to the annual Asia Pacific PR Awards ceremony in Hong Kong.
What do I have to do?
Your initial entry involves writing a PR campaign for a client. You will need to use your creativity and ability to think strategically and analytically to create a campaign that ensures the client achieves its desired objectives. The winner of the Asia Pacific PR Student of the Year award will be someone who demonstrates “real-life” PR skills.
If you’re short-listed, you’ll be invited to your local Weber Shandwick office to present your campaign idea via web/tele-conference to the judging panel. You will also be asked to respond to a mock crisis involving the brand. Following the final round of judging, finalists will be chosen and flown to Hong Kong to attend the Asia Pacific PR Awards ceremony where the winner(s) will be announced.
What if I don’t live close to a Weber Shandwick office?
An alternate arrangement will be made depending on the circumstance. In the past, the second round interview has taken place at an affiliate office or at the student's home via teleconference. The judges will take this into consideration when assigning their scores in the final round. Should the winning student(s) live a long distance away from a Weber Shandwick office, the company will endeavour to find a suitable solution to accommodate the situation.
